Please enjoy the video that explores some details of a first series Patek ref. 2526 and its associated Ponti Gennari bracelet. This stunning combination was one of a few offered by either Gay Freres or Ponti Gennari for the ref. 2526.
Ponti Gennari made two of the bracelet options for the ref. 2526. The so-called “lobster”, type G shown in the video and the type A that adorned the very first ref. 2526 owned by JB Champion, which sold in April 2024 for $729,387. When paired with the ref. 2526, the combination of watch plus bracelet has a quite coherent and custom appearance.
This particular type G bracelet retains it’s original design and full 24 links. When attached to a ref. 2526, the total length is between 7.6” on the tightest clasp position to 8.0” on the longest clasp position. Many of these bracelets seen in the market have been altered, shortened or repaired and that sometimes creates a noticeable gap where the end link meets the watch head and/or affects how supple the links lay and the bracelet drapes around the wrist. On uncut, original bracelets the fit is very seamless with a flush fit to the watch head.
